The first-ever official music video for 'My Sweet Lord',
George Harrison's 1971 song has finally arrived, over 50 years after the song's original release.
Directed by Lance Bangs, the director behind music videos from Sonic Youth, Kanye West, Nirvana, among a list of others, it features a stellar cast as well as beautiful archive footage of George Harrison. The seven-minute clip stars over 30 familiar faces, including Saturday Night Live stars, Mark Hamill, Jon Hamm, Olivia, George's wife, and Dhani Harrison, his son, and even a Genesis authors -
Jeff Lynne and
Ringo Starr - pop up throughout, all in a special tribute.
It comes after the 50th-anniversary reissue of Harrison's solo album All Things Must Pass back in August, which saw the album get a special box set treatment. At the forefront of this was Dhani Harrison and Paul Hicks' production, in which they remixed and remastered the songs from scratch. This reissue has since received a nomination for best boxed or special limited-edition package for the upcoming Grammy Awards, which are set to take place on 31 January.
