Vogue 100: A Century of Style Exhibition

This weekend Vogue magazine starts its centenary celebrations with ‘Vogue 100: A Century of Style’ at the National Portrait Gallery in London. The exhibition will showcase photography commissioned by British Vogue from its founding in 1916 up to the present day. Over 280 prints from the Condé Nast archive and international collections tell the story of one of the most influential fashion magazines in the world.

Founded in 1916, the British edition of Vogue was started as on off-shoot of the American magazine by the now world-famous publishing house, Condé Montrose Nast. During the First World War Condé Nast had to deal with restrictions on overseas shipping as well as paper shortages in America. The British edition of Vogue was the answer to this problem, providing Vogue fashion coverage in the UK.

On Sept 15, 1916 the first edition was published with carefully selected articles dealing with English society, fashions, furniture, interior decorating, garden, art, literature and the stage. Right from the beginning photography was a powerful selling point and would gain an early foothold to dominate fashion completely.

To coincide with the anniversary Genesis Publications are proud to be publishing a hand-crafted, signed limited edition book celebrating the 2016 centenary of British Vogue. The book includes interviews from over 100 of the most respected people 'in Vogue' over the last century. Through the world’s most iconic images of style over 100 years, VOGUE - VOICE OF A CENTURY features the editors, photographers, artists and models.

VOGUE - VOICE OF A CENTURY will be published September 2016. To be first to receive a complimentary prospectus and updates ahead of the crowd, please click here.
