Tom Petty Documentary to Premiere at SXSW Festival
A new documentary about Tom Petty,
Somewhere You Feel Free, is set to air at
SXSW as the 'centrepiece film' in March. The film, which draws on newly discovered archive footage of the late musician working on his iconic 1994 album,
Wildflowers, offers a close insight into the life and work of one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
For the first time, the festival will take place online, with conference sessions, music, film screenings, exhibitions and more all being transformed for a digital setting.
As lead vocalist and guitarist of Mudcrutch and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, as a solo artist, and as a member of the late 1980s supergroup the Traveling Wilburys, Petty sold more than 80 million records worldwide. At Genesis, we were lucky to have his contribution to three of our books;
Mr Fantasy,
Concert for George and
The Traveling Wilburys.
