The Beatles Celebrate 60 Years of North American Tour
60 years ago this week, The Beatles touched down in San Francisco to begin their North American Tour of 1964. No photographer was granted better access than Curt Gunther, who, at the suggestion of the band's press officer Derek Taylor, was invited to join The Beatles tour party for the duration of the 32 shows.
'Every day Curt Gunther, drawing deeply on a cigarette, his wise and cunning eyes boring into mine, would say: "Derek, we gotta have some special pictures, something original."' - Derek TaylorMore than 350 of Gunther's photographs are published for the first time in
Mania Days. Featuring introductory quotes by Derek Taylor, this landmark Genesis limited edition is nearly at an end. Only 50 copies remain, available now in a new 60th-anniversary bookbinding.
We are honoured that this week, The Beatles' official website has published a special celebratory timeline of the 1964 tour as seen through the lens of Curt Gunther and documented in the pages of
Mania Days. To view the timeline,
