Royal Mail Honours Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney has become one of only three solo musicians to be featured on a set of Royal Mail stamps, joining David Bowie and Elton John. Eight designs will celebrate the work of his solo albums, including his first, McCartney, RAM, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this month, and his latest album which was created during lockdown, McCartney III. A further four designs will feature rare photographs of Paul McCartney in the studio.

The stamps have been described by Royal Mail as 'a fitting tribute to one of the UK's much loved and revered musical icons.' The designs, which were selected by Paul, will go on sale later this month.

The artwork for another of his solo albums, Chaos and Creation in the Backyard, was taken by his brother, Mike McCartney, and features in his highly anticipated limited edition book, Mike McCartney's Early Liverpool. Through a wealth of photography, illustrations and original commentary, Mike McCartney's Early Liverpool reveals a vibrant 1960s Liverpool, the iconic venues at its heart such as the Casbah and the Cavern, as well as the events that took place behind the scenes.
