Ringo Starr What's My Name

Ringo Starr to Release New Album

Ringo's 20th solo album, titled What's My Name, is set to be released October 25th via UMe.

The album includes a cover of John Lennon's song 'Grow Old With Me'. One of the last songs Lennon wrote before his death, Ringo said he was inspired to record the song after producer Jack Douglas asked if Starr had heard Lennon's 'Bermuda Tapes'.

"Jack asked if I ever heard The Bermuda Tapes, John's demos from that time," Ringo said in a statement. "And I had never heard all this. The idea that John was talking about me in that time before he died, well, I'm an emotional person. And I just loved this song. I sang it the best that I could. I do well up when I think of John this deeply. And I've done my best. We've done our best.

"The other good thing is that I really wanted Paul to play on it, and he said yes. Paul came over and he played bass and sings a little bit on this with me. So, John's on it in a way. I'm on it and Paul's on it. It's not a publicity stunt. This is just what I wanted. And the strings that Jack arranged for this track, if you really listen, they do one line from 'Here Comes The Sun.' So in a way, it's the four of us."

Recorded in Ringo's home studio, alongside Paul McCartney the album features musicians Steve Lukather, Colin Hay, Joe Walsh, Dave Stewart and more.

"I've got a studio at home in the guesthouse. It's just one bedroom, where the drums and amps are, with a living room and kitchen. We have the mics and the Pro Tools, and the soundboard set up. I've done the last seven albums here. I live in L.A. and I love it. If you come to the house, you're on." - Ringo Starr, Another Day In The Life
