Remembering the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin

From everyone here at Genesis we send our condolences to the friends and family of Aretha Franklin.

An inspiration in every sense of the word; Aretha was a freedom fighter and feminist amongst many other attributes.

Perhaps what we'll remember most vividly, though, was her barrier breaking voice, one which defined a genre of music and crowned her as the much-deserved Queen of Soul.

As we remember Aretha Franklin, we reflect back on these photos taken by Joe Adams, the manager of Ray Charles, which were published for the first time in the Genesis title Yes Indeed.

Aretha Franklin, may you rest in peace.
