Paul McCartney, Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton Among Stars Raising Money for Jerry Donahue

Paul McCartney, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and more have signed a guitar to help raise money for guitarist Jerry Donahue.

Donahue, who played with folk-rock bands Fairport Convention and Fotheringay, suffered a stroke in 2016 and has been unable to play since.

Twenty-three stars have come together to help raise money by signing a guitar that will be auctioned in Wiltshire on December 11th

The Who's Pete Townshend, Jeff Beck, Jeff Lynne and Andy Fairweather Low are also among the twenty-three stars who have signed the guitar.

The guitar, a signature Jerry Donahue Telecaster, is set to sell for in the region of 10,000 and £20,000.

Dave Pegg, bass player with Fairport Convention and one of the leaders of the fundraising effort, said the stars had come together out of "respect for Jerry".

He added: "They recognise he's one of the greatest guitarists in the world with a unique style."

Luke Hobbs, auctioneer at Gardiner Houlgate in Wiltshire, told the BBC: "This guitar has been signed by rock royalty. It's like a Who's Who of the greatest musicians the UK has ever produced."
