Genesis Publications is delighted to announce that Night Divides the Day: The Doors Anthology has been awarded a Gold Medal in the Outstanding Books of the Year category at the 2026 Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPYs).
Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the Independent Publisher Book Awards recognise excellence in independent publishing from around the world. With thousands of entries spanning more than 100 categories, the IPPY Awards honour books distinguished for their quality, originality and design.
Selected as one of the Outstanding Books of the Year, Night Divides the Day was recognised alongside a small group of titles that the judges identified as the very best of this year's competition.
Created to celebrate the 60th anniversary of The Doors, Night Divides the Day opens the band's archives as never before. Produced with the full cooperation of The Doors, the anthology combines rare photography, previously unpublished archival material, intimate new interviews with Robby Krieger and John Densmore, and meticulously sourced archival text from Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek, creating the band's most comprehensive visual history to date.
Each Collector copy is hand-signed by John Densmore and Robby Krieger and presented in a handmade clamshell case inspired by one of The Doors' original flight cases. The edition also includes an exclusive 7-inch picture disc featuring rare demo recordings of Hello, I Love You and Moonlight Drive, mastered by longtime Doors engineer Bruce Botnick, together with a carefully curated selection of archival memorabilia.
Already named by Forbes among the year's finest music books, this latest honour further recognises the extraordinary collaboration between Genesis Publications and The Doors in preserving one of rock music's most influential legacies.
We would like to thank John Densmore, Robby Krieger, the estates of Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison, The Doors management team, and our many contributors – from Van Morrison to Krist Novoselic, Slash to Gustavo Dudamel – and everyone who helped bring this landmark anthology to life.
Collector copies of Night Divides the Day are available while stocks remain.
