New Tom Petty Box Set, An American Treasure, Out Now

Last Friday, September 28^th, An American Treasure, the all-new Tom Petty box set was released.

Hear previously unreleased tracks, alternative versions, live takes and more. The box set, released via Reprise, will be available in four different versions. The super deluxe edition comprises of four CDs, featuring around 60 tracks (a career-spanning collection) along with an 84-page hardback book with rare photos, and even reproductions of Petty's handwritten lyrics. Other versions include a deluxe edition, a six-LP vinyl edition; and a standard two-CD edition comprising of 26 tracks selected from the deluxe editions.  

Shepard Fairey created the design for the posthumous box set. Petty's daughter, Adria Petty, and his wife, Dana Petty, were executive producers, and together they curated the track list along with his Heartbreakers bandmates - guitarist Mike Campbell and keyboardist Benmont Tench - and long-time engineer and friend Ryan Ulyate.

In a press release, Adria Petty and Dana Petty said,

"Everyone involved in this project chose each track with tremendous care and deep respect for the body of work Tom Petty created over the course of 40 years. He also accumulated a wealth of unreleased music in his vaults, and we have collectively uncovered one gem after another that will keep us all listening and discovering new facets of Tom's talent for many years to come. We can't wait to share with Tom's fans this musical portrait of an artist who deeply affected our culture and indelibly touched the lives of fans the world over."
