New Rock Exhibit Announced for Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will play host to iconic instruments of rock and roll. From April 8th, 2019, the exhibit Play It Loud: Instruments of Rock and Roll will house more than 130 instruments used by the likes of Jimmy Page, the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones and more.

The instruments will date from 1939 to 2017, and are gathered from 70 private and public collections from both the US and the UK. The Play It Loud collection will include pieces only ever seen before onstage during performances. A number of vintage posters will complement the instruments and other exhibit items, which include Jimmy Page's dragon-embroidered costume, Jimi Hendrix's 'Love Drops' electric guitar, Eric Clapton's guitar, 'Blackie', and more.

The exhibit, organised by both The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will run until October 1st, 2019. For more information, click here.
