The Scaffold - Thank U Very Much for the NHS

Mike McCartney's Scaffold Re-Release Song in Aid of the NHS

The Scaffold have released a reworked version of their 1967 hit 'Thank U Very Much', with all money raised going to NHS Charities Together. Mike McCartney, Roger McGough and John Gorman recorded the track using their phones whilst they were in their respective homes during lockdown. The song uses the original Abbey Road backing track, which McCartney - or McGear as he was commonly known at the time - found in his loft.

The accompanying video was produced by McCartney's son, who used footage of McCartney's mother who was a nurse for the NHS, as well as footage of McCartney's daughter who is currently an NHS nurse.

The poetry, comedy and music trio delighted audiences in the 1960s with satirical songs such as 'Lily the Pink', which was the UK Christmas No.1 in 1968. 'Thank U Very Much' was another hit that brought the band success.
