Following the announcement that the 1972 music film Imagine is to be re-released (due to be aired today, September 17th, with never-before-seen footage), John Lennon's well-known album Imagine is also going to be produced into a brand-new box set.
Imagine: The Ultimate Collection will be released October 5th. The six-disc, 140-track collection, which consists of two Blu-ray discs and four CDs, will give fans the chance to commemorate Lennon's 78th birthday on October 9th with some previously unheard material.
The re-released album (via Geffen/UMe) will be made up of many novel additions, including: a new mix of the record; outtakes; raw studio recordings and a track-by-track audio documentary - 'The Evolution Documentary'.
Imagine will be released at the same time as other audio configurations, which include: a two-CD deluxe edition, one CD remaster, a double LP 180g heavyweight black vinyl and a double LP limited edition 180g clear vinyl edition.
In addition to the new box set, and also due to be released on October 5th but through Eagle Vision, is the John Lennon and Yoko Ono-directed 1972 film Imagine (in cinemas now) together with the documentary Gimme Some Truth. Both films will be hand-restored and remastered in high-definition with the sound remixed by Grammy-winning engineer, Paul Hicks.
These exceptional re-releases were authorised by Yoko Ono, who managed the production and the creative direction.
