'GQ Reveals the Inner Psyche of that Generation's Most Treasured Pearl'

'This summer sees the long-awaited release of Janis Joplin's personal scrapbook of mementoes, letters and images, recreated page by page...' - GQ

In an exclusive preview, the latest issue of GQ magazine takes an in-depth look at the highly anticipated limited edition that reveals Janis Joplin's personal scrapbook for the first time, Janis Joplin: Days & Summers.

Compiled between 1966 and 1968, the scrapbook covers Janis's meteoric rise to fame after she left her small town of Port Arthur, and through collected posters, souvenirs, press clippings, photographs and notes, the scrapbook provides an intimate view into the singer's extraordinary life.

'She was keeping the things that were important to her and her concept of herself.' - Michael Joplin

In conversation with GQ, her brother Michael explains that 'the scrapbook was a thing to do at night on a quiet evening'. As highlighted in the feature, contributions from Janis's siblings reveal another side to the first female rock star, and the existence of the scrapbook itself feels like a contrast to the rebellious, uninhibited performer that many people will remember.

'The result is a print run of 2,000 copies that features contributions from a who's who of the West Coast rock'n'roll establishment... Among all these voices, Laura and Michael Joplin's recollections offer a personal and familial insight.' - GQ

With contributions from her family, as well as close friends and those she inspired, the text, combined with the scrapbook, provides a full account of the singer's fascinating life.
