Happy Birthday Paul Weller
Legendary singer, songwriter and musician Paul Weller celebrates his 64th birthday today.
Born 25 May in Woking, Weller has been an integral part of the British music scene since the early 1970s, when he founded The Jam. He later teamed up with keyboardist Mick Talbot to create The Style Council, in which political statements were aired to nostalgic, summer-soaked melodies, and has gone on to have a hugely successful solo career. As a songwriter, Weller is considered on par with artists such as
Paul McCartney and
David Bowie.
To celebrate his birthday, Paul Weller's critically acclaimed ninth solo album, 22 Dreams, is set to be reissued as a double LP, which will feature an exclusive booklet and poster. The record is coming out on 22 July and is now available to pre-order.
22 Dreams is one of many albums featured within
Magic: A Journal of Song, an upcoming Genesis edition from Paul Weller. Inside, he discusses his life and music through a personally curated selection of over 100 songs spanning his entire musical career. In
Magic, he writes of
22 Dreams:
'Since this record I've never looked back. I'd been self-indulgent and people had liked it. It was a pivotal record for me in many ways.'
