From Pet Sounds to Sgt. Pepper

This weekend marks 60 years since the release of Pet Sounds — Brian Wilson’s groundbreaking masterpiece, first heard on 16 May 1966.

Its influence would reach far beyond California. Reflecting on the album years later, Paul McCartney described Pet Sounds as “very influential” on Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, inspiring The Beatles to push further into new creative territory. In turn, Sgt. Pepper became inseparable from the visionary artwork of Sir Peter Blake.

More than four decades later, Brian Wilson and Peter Blake would come together for an extraordinary Genesis Publications collaboration: That Lucky Old Sun.

Hand-signed by Brian Wilson and Sir Peter Blake, the handcrafted limited edition brings together Blake’s richly layered visual artwork with Wilson’s reflections on music, memory and California.

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of Pet Sounds, Genesis readers can receive complimentary worldwide shipping on copies of That Lucky Old Sun using the code PET60 at checkout until midnight Sunday 17 May.
