Chrissie Hynde's Bob Dylan Cover Album is Released Today on CD and Vinyl
Chrissie Hynde's latest release - comprised of Bob Dylan covers - is officially out on CD and vinyl today.
The eight-track record sees the Pretenders founder covering of a range of Bob Dylan songs from his extensive back catalogue, including 'You're a Big Girl Now,' from his 1975 acclaimed album Blood on the Tracks, to 'Love Minus Zero / No Limit' from Bringing it All Back Home, and 1997's 'Standing in the Doorway.'
Titled Standing in the Doorway: Chrissie Hynde Sings Bob Dylan, it was made alongside Pretenders bandmate James Walbourne, following the band's latest album, Hate For Sale, which was released in July of last year.
The idea came after Walbourne sent Hynde the sprawling seventeen-minute song titled 'Murder Most Foul,' released by Bob Dylan in March 2020. "A few weeks into lockdown last year, James sent me the new Dylan track, Murder Most Foul," Hynde recalled. "Listening to that song completely changed everything for me."
"I was lifted out of this morose mood that I'd been in. I remember where I was sitting the day that Kennedy was shot - every reference in the song."
The pair completed the album almost exclusively via text message, and the final versions were mixed by Grammy-winning engineer Tchad Blake, best known for his work with The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys and Fiona Apple.
The release is accompanied by four scheduled shows in August at Edinburgh's Queen's Hall during the city's Fringe Festival. It's set to focus purely on Bob Dylan covers and will run from August 22-25. Tickets are available

In 2018, Chrissie Hynde released a book of her artwork entitled
Adding The Blue. The book, which is filled with almost 200 of her paintings, is individually numbered, signed by Hynde and limited to 1000 copies.
