Chrissie Hynde's Album 'Valve Bone Woe' Out Today

Chrissie Hynde's latest album Valve Bone Woe has been released today, September 6th, via BMG.

The jazz-influenced album, produced by Marius De Vries and Eldad Guetta, features 14 renditions from an assortment of artists, including Frank Sinatra, the Beach Boys, John Coltrane, Ray Davies, Nick Drake, Charlie Mingus and more.

In a statement Chrissie said: "I'm not hugely interested in branching out into other musical genres, being a devout rock singer as such, but jazz is something I grew up around (thanks to my bro) and I've always had a soft spot for it. I often bemoan what I regard as a decline in melody in popular music and I wanted to sing melodies.

"Plus, I have a penchant for cover songs, it's the surprise of singing something that I didn't think of writing myself that turns me on. Jazz got side-lined by Rock & Roll in the 60's, but now the demise of rock seems to be heralding in a newfound interest in it, the most creative and innovative musical forms of the 20th century. I'm happy to jump on the bandwagon."

Valve Bone Woe was recorded with the Valve Bone Woe Ensemble at Air Studios in London and will be released on CD, double 180g vinyl and a limited edition 7" vinyl box set. Not only has Chrissie painted the album artwork - which features in her limited edition, Adding The Blue - she has also painted a cover for each individual track.

In the run-up to her latest album's release date Chrissie released a couple of singles from the album, including her version of the Beach Boys' 'Caroline, No'. Listen to the track below:
