Who Shot Rock & Roll at Brooklyn Museum
Kate Simon, author of our Bob Marley limited edition,
REBEL MUSIC, will be taking part in a panel discussion at the Brooklyn Museum on October 31st, entitled
'Behind the Lens, in the Spotlight: Women's Image in Rock'. The panel will examine the impact of sexism on the image and role of women in rock 'n' roll over the past 30 years; the effect of feminism on the rock scene; and what lies ahead for women’s participation in all aspects of rock music. Kate and the other panelists have each selected 10 photographs and three pieces of music to discuss in relation to the theme.
The discussion is in conjunction with an exhibition
Who Shot Rock & Roll: A Photographic History, 1955 to the Present, which emphasizes the photographer's creative and collaborative role in the history of rock music. Exhibiting their photographs alongside Kate's are two other Genesis photographers
Henry Diltz and
Barry Feinstein. The exhibition runs from October 30th until January 31st in the Morris A. and Schapiro Wing on the 5th Floor. The panel discussion is from 2-4pm on Saturday October 31st in the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium on the 3rd Floor.
