Townshend's First Guitar

The first guitar Pete Townshend ever played as a boy was sold at Bonhams auction house on the 15th December 2010 raising £7,500 for the Teenage Cancer Trust. The 1936 Radiotone cello guitar first belonged to Pete's uncle Jack who passed away and left the guitar to Pete's mother. Townshend originally sold it in 2007 to raise money for a charitable project saying then that: 'This is the first guitar I ever touched, long before I could play.'

Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey and John Entwistle all contribute original text to MAXIMUM WHO, a limited edition photographic record of The Who's rise through the Sixties.
