The Beatles Announce Their Final Song 'Now and Then'
In exciting news this week, it has been announced that Beatles fans will soon be able to hear the last song featuring George Harrison, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and Ringo Starr.
The song will be featured in a 13-minute
documentary on Wednesday 1st of November and will be released on the 3rd of November as a double A-side single with the Beatles' 1962 debut single 'Love Me Do', featuring cover art by Ed Ruscha.
Working alongside Peter Jackson's team, who helped create
Get Back, the AI technology used to enhance the audio in the documentary breathed new life into what could be developed. After receiving the demo from Lennon's widow,
Yoko Ono, it was one of several songs on a cassette labelled 'For Paul' that Lennon had made shortly before his death in 1980.
'There it was, John's voice, crystal clear... It's quite emotional. And we all play on it, it's a genuine Beatles recording. In 2023, to still be working on Beatles music, and be about to release a new song the public haven't heard, I think it's an exciting thing.' - Paul McCartney
After the initial concern from fans regarding the use of AI with the recording, McCartney has clarified nothing has been artificially or synthetically created for the recording. It has only been used to clean and process what couldn't have been done in the past.
