Sir Peter's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Sir Peter Blake has remade his legendary
Sgt. Pepper cover to celebrate his 80
th birthday. The'Godfather of British Pop Art' has chosen the cultural figures he most admiresto celebrate the UK's creative output, including Genesis contributors PaulWeller, Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney, David Bowie, and Eric Clapton.
'I had a very long list of people who I wanted to go in butcouldn't fit everyone in - I think that shows how strong British culture andits legacy of the last six decades is.'
- Sir Peter BlakeBlake digitally created the 2012 version rather thanassembling and hand-colouring cardboard cut outs as he did for the 1967 coverof
Sgt. Pepper, but still found the workvery time consuming.
'I often thought that if I did it again it would be veryquick on the computer but it was very laborious.'
