Moonage Daydream Competition Winners Announced
Earlier in June, we announced the
Moonage Daydream competition, which gave subscribers the chance to win a Publisher's Copy of the anniversary edition. The answer to the question of which British dancer, actor and mime artist performed with David Bowie onstage at London's Rainbow Theatre in August 1972, was Lindsay Kemp.
'A major influence and mentor during my 'cultural gestation' period was the fantastical Lindsay Kemp. In 1967, a girlfriend of mine, Jan, the secretary-cum-receptionist for my then manager Ken Pitt, had been raving to me about Kemp for some time. She knew my liking for both the theatre and the unusual and had prodded me for weeks to go with her and see this mime. A mime, what could be less interesting? Then she told me that he was using my one album (an early Decca/Deram release) as his interval music. A mime, how interesting.' - David Bowie, Moonage Daydream
The two winners of Publisher's Copies are Terry, Aylesford, UK and Cory, Minnesota, USA, both who will be contacted shortly. Congratulations!
It's not too late to pick up a copy of
Moonage Daydream, which originally sold out in a matter of months and became lore among David Bowie fans. Now, on the 50th anniversary of Bowie's acclaimed album,
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, the book is available once more as an Anniversary Edition for bookstores worldwide. To purchase a copy, visit any good bookstore, or alternatively order online via
