Mick Jagger has released a new single, 'Eazy Sleazy', with many able to relate to its pandemic-inspired lyrics. Featuring Dave Grohl, the single is a tongue-in-cheek look back at the effect the pandemic has had on our social liberties while celebrating the end in sight: 'We're all headed back to paradise / Yeah easy believe me / It'll be a memory you're trying to remember to forget.'
Jagger also addresses some of the conspiracy theories that have arisen during the course of the pandemic with satirical lyrics such as, 'Shooting the vaccine / Bill Gates is in my bloodstream / It's mind control / The earth is flat and cold.'
Last year, the Rolling Stones released a haunting single, 'Living in a Ghost Town', which although recorded before the pandemic, was reflective of the current situation affecting the world. It was their first new material in eight years since the new tracks that featured on their Greatest Hits album were released. 'Eazy Sleazy' is the first solo single by Mick Jagger since 2017.
'It's a reflection on the last year; the physical and mental strains put on society.' - Mick Jagger
Like many bands, the Rolling Stones have had to stop touring due to the ongoing pandemic, but hope to complete their American tour as soon as the restrictions allow.
