For fans of Gibson guitars around the world, the news that the company has filed for bankruptcy protection comes as a shock.
Gibson, founded originally in 1894, said in its statement that it planned to concentrate on the production of musical instruments and end its diversification into electronics. According to reports today, this has a good chance of saving the core business of instrument making.
"Playing a Les Paul guitar brings back memories of hearing 'How High The Moon' as a kid... I love the tonality of that instrument." - Jeff Beck
