Happy Birthday Eric Clapton

Renowned guitarist, singer, songwriter, and Genesis author Eric Clapton turns 76 today. On his 13th birthday Eric asked for a guitar - a gift that would go on to define the rest of his life.

In a career spanning more than 50 years, Eric has had a number of impressive lifetime achievements. He is currently the only person to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times: as a solo artist, as a member of the Yardbirds, and as a member of Cream. He was also ranked no.2 in Rolling Stone's '100 greatest guitarists of all time', beaten only by Jimi Hendrix.

In 1999 Eric Clapton held the first Crossroads festival, which raised money for his Crossroads centre, an addiction rehabilitation centre in Antigua. Since then, the festival has grown and brings the best guitarists in the world together. The story of the Crossroads festival is told in Sunshine of Your Love, Eric's official limited edition book, which documents the festivals between 1999 and 2013.

While Eric has had to postpone his 2021 tour due to the ongoing pandemic, he has been keeping busy during lockdown, recently collaborating on a new album from Pedrito Martinez, and featuring on Daniel Santiago's new single, 'Open World'.
