Happy Birthday Chrissie Hynde
Celebrated singer, visual artist, guitarist and songwriter, Chrissie Hynde, celebrates her 70th birthday today.
Hynde was born in 1951 in Akron, Ohio, and grew up influenced by the local music scenes and cult legends such as Iggy Pop and Alice Cooper. In the late seventies, Hynde formed the Pretenders, a band name inspired by the Platters' 1955 song, 'The Great Pretender.'
Throughout a career that spans decades, Hynde has collaborated with a range of artists, including U2, Frank Sinatra and Iggy Pop. In 2018, Hynde released her first Genesis book entitled
Adding The Blue, which published her first ever body of artwork. She's released over ten albums as part of the Pretenders, three solo albums, including her latest entitled
Standing in the Doorway, in which Hynde covers selected songs by Bob Dylan.
Most recently, Hynde took to the stage at Edinburgh Fringe Festival to play a string of dates that coincided with the release of the album.
From everyone at Genesis, Happy Birthday Chrissie!
