George Martin Inducted Into The UK Music Hall Of Fame

The UK Music Hall of Fame was founded in 2004 to give suitable honour to musicians for their lifetime of achievement in the music industry. Now George Martin has joined the likes of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Queen. On his induction yesterday George had this to say:

'I think the reason I am here today is I have been a very lucky man and I have worked with the greatest people in show business, performers and writers. It rubs off working with people like that, it makes all the difference in the world.'

George's latest collaboration with Genesis, Summer of Love, has recently gone on general release to huge acclaim as did his earlier memoir, Playback (now sold out). Celebrating 40 years since The Beatles began work on Sgt. Pepper's, Summer of Love tells the album's story from behind the recording desks at Abbey Road studios. It is fascinating reading for any serious music fan.

Being used to working in the studio at all hours of the day, George is still as busy as ever. After the phenomenal success of his Beatles collaboration with Cirque Du Soleil, Monday sees the release of the Love album. To coincide, the BBC are airing an interview with the man himself at 9pm on BBC6 Music (digital radio station).

Keep an eye on our website over the coming months as the celebrations begin in earnest for the 2007 40th anniversary of the making of Sgt. Peppers in that very special 'Summer of Love'.
