Zachary Alford has spoken about what it was like working onBowie's recently revealed album, The Next Day. The band, which also featured Gail Ann Dorsey, Gerry Leonard andDavid Torn, met at Magic Shop for the secret recording sessions, where Alfordsaid they soon began to fall into a routine.
'I'd show up around 10:30 a.m. David was almost alwaysalready there, in the control room strumming away on something. Then he'd comeback when we were all gathered and throw on a demo. After hearing it two orthree times he'd say, "Everybody ready?" We'd only do two or threetakes and he'd say, "Either we've got it or we don't." He'd ratherkeep the momentum going and keep the juices flowing than sit there and hammerout a tune until it's perfect.' - Zachary Alford, Rolling Stone Magazine
